Concert This Thursday! Entitled, “A Great Journey”

Road

I am proud to announce our concert theme this Thursday is entitled “A Great Journey!” I chose this theme for many reasons. At the concert, you will witness music from many different countries or cultures. Many of the pieces reflect on the theme of a journey or longing such as “Walk in Jerusalem” “We Rise Again” “That Lonesome Road” “Famine Song” and “See You Again.” Personally I am naming this concert “A Great Journey” because this is my first class of 8th graders I have had since they were 7th graders at Learwood Middle School.

Students are to report to the High School PAC at 6:45 this Thursday, May 21st. They are to wear their black and white. Students will know what rooms they need to report to. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m.

This is a change this concert. We are asking after the concert that 7th grade students meet their family in the HS Commons. The 8th grade students will meet their parents in the PAC. This should help alleviate some of the crowded space after the concert in the PAC.

Our students have worked very hard for this concert. I am looking forward to an evening of amazing music making!

8th Grade! Don’t forget your rehearsal tomorrow night at the HS PAC! 7:00-7:30 p.m. for the 8th grade mixed choir. Concert Choir will stay until 8:00 p.m.

Mr Portola, as a grandparent of a 7th grade girl, and after seeing 2 concerts this year, I can’t thank you enough for your enthusiasm, professional attitude, and knowledge. What a gift you are to the students of the Junior High. Whether they have singing as a principal interest or not, you are giving them such a valuable musical education. Thank you for your time and efforts. Both of my children now 40 and 36, went through Learwood, and they did not get the great education that you are providing when they were there. Keep up the great work and enthusiasm!
